There is nothing quite like the feeling of plugging in, turning the amps all the way up, and letting loose in a room that has seen a decade of Brisbane’s finest live music. Today, the Exploding Head Syndrome (EHS) crew took over the legendary stage at The Brightside in Fortitude Valley for an absolute marathon of a rehearsal session.

First off, a massive shout-out to the team at The Brightside. With their incredible new initiative opening up free daytime rehearsal slots to support grassroots local artists through the current cost-of-living squeeze, they are proving exactly why they’ve been the heartbeat of the Brisbane music scene for 12 years. Stepping onto that stage during the day—with the stage lights on, the house drum kit roaring, and the vocal monitors dialed in—gave us the perfect playground to fine-tune our setup.

There's an incredible honesty to practicing in an empty venue during the day. No crowd, no hype—just us, our gear, and the music. We ran through the upcoming setlist until our fingers were blistered and our throats were raw, and honestly, the new material has never sounded tighter.

What’s Next for EHS?

All of this noise wasn't just for fun. We are getting dialed in and laser-focused for our upcoming live shows, including our upcoming gig at Mansfield Tavern on Thursday, July 16.

We left a little bit of sweat and a whole lot of decibels on that floor today. Brisbane, we are ready for you.
